A marathon to spread the message of Road Safety was jointly
conducted with the
world-renowned Brahma Kumaris’ Transport and Travel Wing (TTW) and
the Road
Transport Office (RTO), Borivali on 10th January, 2016. Titled ‘Fun
Run … Run
for
Road Safety’, it was a huge success with nearly 5,000 people
participating in
the 5
km and 10 km runs that started and finished at St Francis ground,
Poinsur,
Borivali
(West).
Celebrities Sonu Nigam, Sadhna Sargam and Sunil Grover graced the occasion and highlighted the importance of Road Safety and lauded the RTO personnel for their diligent efforts.
Two rallies culminated into a World Record for the Largest Road Safety Class on January 31, 2016 at Goregaon (E) in Mumbai. The event was organised by Road Transport Office (RTO), Borivali and AEPL in collaboration with Mahindra & Mahindra and the Transport Wing of Brahma Kumaris.
A cyclothon was flagged off from SRPF grounds, Goregaon (E) and a
Helmet Rally
was
flagged off from BKC, Bandra and both rallies converged at the SRPF
grounds,
Goregaon (E). More than 11,000 enthusiastic bikers and cyclists
joined the rally
and
a majority of them were present at the road safety lesson and award
ceremony
after
the drive. The Road Safety lesson at the valedictory function of the
rallies was
officially declared as the ‘Largest lesson in Road Safety’ by
Guinness World
Records
representatives who were witness it and ratified the record. The
lesson was
delivered by Ravi Gaikwad, DRTO, Borivali and BK Divyaprabha,
national
co-ordinator,
TTW, Brahma Kumaris.
Several dignitaries graced the occasion including Subhash Desai, Minister for Industries, Maharashtra, actors Dinu Morea, Pulkit Samrat, singers Shaan, Bhoomi Trivedi and Radio Jockey Mallishka.
Various other Road Safety programmes were also held. Blood donation camps, eye check-up camps and road safety slogans were displayed on streets, buses and autorickshaws respectively.
